11 Feb Mehrama
While some of you are already hooked to this mesmerizing song, we share you our favorite part of “Mehrama” from the upcoming movie “Love Aaj Kal”.
Zoe, struggling to strike a chord in her own practical world, is trying hard to deal with the emotional turmoil buried beneath her smiling face after breaking up with Veer. Refraining from showing this to the beings around, almost giving up, and then picking herself back. A person who never wanted to dive into commitment, somehow ceases to the waves of love.
“Jo shor ka hissa hooni
Woh aawaz hoon
Logon mein hoon
Par tanha hoon main
Haan tanha hoon main”
She has become a voice of that unpleasant noise she’s now a part of. When she enters the room full of humans, Zoe transits from a bewildered self to enacting a happy soul, trying to lose herself in the music. She has lost her sanity but she keeps up with the happy spirits around trying to blend effortlessly, swaying, celebrating, and still lost. She is very much into the crowd, still a major part of her soul is lingering in the by lanes of loneliness.
Zoe like any other Imtiaz’s character is merely a void, wrapping herself in a dummy glittery vibrant cover. Having lost a part of herself, and realizing what she has left behind to something that felt warm, to someone who felt like home.
“Duniya mujhe mujhse juda hi karti rahe
Bolo magar na baatein karun
Ye kya hoon main”
A part of Zoe in search of herself, a piece that the mean world is willing to separate from her. She meets people, greets them, speaks to them but there’s a part of her that’s broken, that doesn’t want to share any part of herself. She’s like the wave, that goes with the currents yet reaches the shore and turns back. Turns back every single time. She’s unsure about who she has become now, how? She anxiously asks herself every time, who am I?
